Emma Lovell Yoga
Emma is a Salisbury based Yoga teacher with a wide offering including Hatha & restorative yoga. Emma needed a clean, calming website that reflected her yoga practice while being simple enough for her to manage herself. I used WordPress full site editing (FSE) to create a custom block based theme without relying on third-party page builders.

Project goals
This is what I set out to achieve:
Design – A calm, simple design to match the brand
Performance – Fast and mobile friendly
Maintenance – Easy to update without needing developer input
Design setup
To keep the design consistent, I set up a global theme file which included the following:
Fonts – a clear, modern and easy to read typeface
Colours – soft greens and neutrals for a calming, earthy look
Spacing – lots of breathing room to prevent crowded pages

How it was built
I created a set of block patterns for the website. These were built using WordPress core blocks and include a columns pattern, text and image pattern, etc. These patterns make it easy for Emma to construct pages with ease as she can simply drag and drop in what she wants without having to build layouts from scratch.
I also set up templates for the different types of pages across the site such as the home page, 404 page and basic pages. I set up the Events & Workshops page (CPT archive) so that events automatically disappear once they’ve finished. This keeps the page tidy and up to date without Emma needing to manually remove old events.
The finished site now feels like an extension of Emma’s yoga practice – calm, welcoming, and easy for her to update.
